FAQs
What are the benefits of using beeswax candles?
Beeswax candles are natural, non-toxic, and burn cleaner than other types of candles. They release negative ions that help purify the air, reduce allergens, and create a soothing ambiance. Beeswax candles also burn longer than paraffin or soy candles, making them a more sustainable option. Plus, they have a subtle, natural honey scent without the use of artificial fragrances or chemicals.
Are beeswax candles safe to use around children and pets?
Yes! Beeswax candles are a great choice for families with children or pets. Unlike paraffin candles, which can release harmful toxins when burned, beeswax candles burn cleanly without producing toxic fumes. They are free from artificial fragrances, dyes, and chemicals, making them a safe, natural option for your home.
How long do beeswax candles last?
Beeswax candles generally burn longer than candles made from other waxes, such as paraffin or soy. A beeswax candle can last up to 50% longer than a similar-sized paraffin candle because beeswax burns hotter and more slowly. The actual burn time depends on the size of the candle, but you can expect longer-lasting enjoyment from your beeswax candles.
How do I care for my beeswax candle to ensure it burns evenly?
To get the most out of your beeswax candles, follow these simple tips:
Trim the wick: Keep the wick trimmed to about 1/4 inch to prevent flickering, reduce soot, and ensure an even burn.
Burn long enough: Allow the wax to melt across the entire surface during the first burn to avoid tunneling.
Avoid drafts: Burn your beeswax candle in a draft-free area to ensure an even burn and avoid excessive dripping.
Store properly: Keep candles in a cool, dry place to maintain their shape and avoid melting.
Can I reuse leftover beeswax from a burned candle?
Yes! Beeswax is reusable, and leftover wax can be melted down and repurposed. You can melt the remaining wax and pour it into molds to create new candles, or use the wax for DIY projects like lip balm, furniture polish, or even skin care. It’s a great way to reduce waste and get even more use out of your beeswax candles.
Do beeswax candles have a scent?
Yes, beeswax candles have a natural, subtle honey-like fragrance. This scent is not overpowering, unlike synthetic fragrances in some other candles. If you're sensitive to strong scents or prefer a more natural aroma, beeswax candles offer the perfect solution without the use of artificial perfumes or chemicals.
What is the white powder that is on my beeswax candle?
Glad you asked! That white dusty looking powder is called BLOOM. This happens when the natural oils and resins found in pure beeswax float to the surface when exposed to temperature changes. Generally bloom is a good sign that you truly have pure beeswax! If you don’t like the look of bloom, simply take a soft cloth and polish your candle to remove it.
